Join us in Lighting the Way to Smarter Cities
The world’s cities are moving tenaciously towards Smart City environments, for improved quality of life, reduced costs and revenue generation. Deploying an RF network over a city using street light controls, ideally positions these networks as a generic backbone/platform for various Smart City applications. Telematics’ T-Light Galaxy System (point-to-multipoint) and Pro System (mesh) are used today for many such applications.
No other vertical application is better suited for Smart City applications than smart street light controls. Once a city deploys lighting control units on top of its streetlight, all it needs for connecting any type of sensor in the coverage area to the network is a simple, short range and low cost communication link between the sensor and the nearest luminaire. The network design takes into account the addition of many sensors beyond the street lighting. These applications can be added to the network at any time during its life span.
The System’s flexibly accommodates the integration of various IoT sensors, without modifying the wireless network. Such adaptation capabilities are inherent in the T-Light CMS – software and firmware upgrading with no hardware replacement needed.
Telematics, as a market leader in Smart Cities, presents its solutions in this field. Our Street-Lighting Control solutions form the foundation and platform of the smart city applications; the same platform can serve as an Advanced Metering Infrastructure; and a city can also connect Water Resource Management sensors. Telematics’ Intelligent Transportation Systems, our vehicle identification and location solutions, complete the full spectrum of Smart City solutions.
For a general review of Smart City applications and sensors, several of which are deployed today and a few in Telematics’ roadmap, are presented in this white paper Streetlights as a Platform for Smart City Applications.
